It's been quite a year for NationBuilder!
The new website theme on this micro site is our Christmas present to you. NationBuilder customers will find it in the official themes under "Focus," and you can swap out the background photo in your site settings.
Some highlights of our year:
We launched in April to a wide acclaim. "One Stop Shop for Creating A Website for a Political Campaign," said TechCrunch.
In May, the Scottish National Party used NationBuilder to aid its biggest-ever victory. Strategist Kirk Torrance talked to me about that historical victory and what's next on our new NationBuilder's Leaders and Creators podcast.
Alex Torpey, the social media mayor, also won his election in May using NationBuilder, and has since been profiled by Inc. Magazine and the New York Times. We're excited to see what Alex's Veracity Media will do with NationBuilder in years to come.
I joined NationBuilder in May along with Jacob Green, and the addition of Dan Walmsley and Clay Shentrup in the summer and fall has helped us quickly scale features and growth. Check out more info on the awesome 3dna/NationBuilder team here.
In June, our founder Jim Gilliam became an Internet sensation following his biographical "The Internet Is My Religion" speech at the Personal Democracy Forum. You can read what folks are saying about #tiimr here, and check out Jim's own implementation of the Focus theme.
In September, we took NationBuilder to a whole new level with Dylan Ratigan's "Get Money Out" campaign. With help from our consulting partner Jerimee Richir and his team, Ratigan's campaign against money in politics quickly grew to more than 250,000 active supporters across the nation.
In November, TechCrunch wrote us up again as we began taking on larger customers from across the ideological spectrum, like Newt Gingrich for his New Hampshire efforts and Media Matters for its end-of-year fundraising campaign.
We held our first NationBuilder Summit in downtown Los Angeles in December, bringing together the whole team to plan out our 2012. It's been a great year for NationBuilder, and next year is going to be even better and bigger.
We're grateful to the more than 300 groups actively using NationBuilder today, and to the great consultants who support our platform, like Richir Outreach, Trippi & Associates, Torpey, Liberal Art, CivicNEXT, Four Tier Strategies, Jason Lalor, Tim Wayne, Oppidan Media, rVictory, Douglas Miller, Watch Street Consulting, Erik Endress, Ben Kempas, Voterworks, Lisa Madison and Wrangler Media.
See you in 2012!
